ChiChi (pronounced: CheeChee) is the Papiamentu nickname for oldest daughter and sister. Serena Israel’s sculptures bring ChiChis alive in all their colorfully voluptuous glory, but they also convey a stern, serious demeanor, characteristic of the strong, no nonsense women of Curaçao.
