823. Curaçao’s Milk Things (Ko’i Lechi)

Ingredients:

1 can (14 – 1/2 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

2 1/2 cups confectioner’s  sugar

2 1/2 cups powdered whole milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon vanilla

Mix all ingredients together. Add food coloring of choice. Knead until smooth. Shape into small balls and flatten with fork, fill small candy molds*.

Let dry, then turn out.

*Your favorite cookie cutter works fine too!

    I was craving some K’oi lechi lately and I am so happy to have found the recipe on your page.
    These little sweet morzels bring back childhood memories remembering the time that my mother used to make them.

    Powdered milk is not a widely used ingredient here in France but luckily enough I was able to find it in an Middle- Eastern store not very far from where I live so now I can make it on a regular basis. Great! .
