873. Curaçao’s Mundo Bizarro

By the fabulous Gaby Lieuw, Founder & Blogger: Sand and Stilettos

Located in the colorful heart of Willemstad, the up and coming neighborhood of Pietermaal Smal has often been referred to as our emerging “Quartier Latin”. Meticulous renovations over the past couple years have been breathing new life into these historic buildings that currently house a fashion atelier, wine merchant, art studio, boutique apartment rentals, and a smattering of cafés and restaurants.

One of these is the funky, Cuban-inspired Mundo Bizarro. Its international menu boasts dishes from Mexican bean soup to Coq au Vin to Turkish lamb kebabs you can savor comfortably from the eclectic mix of seating in the dining room. Animated chatter around the mosaic tiled bar down below makes for pleasant background buzz.

Friendly bar staff mix the most fantastic cocktails from Martinis, Piña Coladas to Caipirinhas and Mojitos. Enjoy the starry night sky on the mismatched, overstuffed chairs downstairs while sipping a cold cocktail to the beat of live music pouring out onto the sidewalk.
