781. Curaçao’s Heineken Regatta

The 5th edition of Heineken Regatta Curacao was held on January 25th – 27th 2013. Our Noord Oost passaat and picturesque UNESCO World Heritage natural harbor attracts over 350 sailors from the Netherlands, US, UK, Australia, Finland, Aruba, Bonaire, St. Maarten and Curacao in all categories (racing, cruising, open fun and multihull classes) — approx. 125 boats and 40 yachts in all!

2013’s regatta added a few new twists: the world championship of the 5.5m class and a first-ever solar boat race! All events (windsurfing, competitive sailing and fishing, boat parades etc) were held in and around our St. Anna Bay, Waaigat and Marichi.

Visiting yachts were welcome to anchor (for free) in our Spanish Waters, our lovely well-protected bay on our southeast coast (near Santa Barbara). Coastal spectators enjoyed watching towering sails glide by… temporarily escaping to another, even dreamier, place.
