Wayaká (lignum vitae) wood is extremely hard and contains a resin that makes it suitable for making shaft-bearing linings. Wayaká wood hardly wears as its resin is self-lubricating. I swear I’m not making this up! I read it in Nos matanan i palunan Onze planten en bomen Our plants and trees.
