626. Willemstad

Willemstad made #2 on Conde Nast Readers’ Choice survey of Top 5 Cities in the Caribbean!

Curaçao’s colorful buildings caught our readers’ attention, as did the markets where one visitor surprised herself, finding that “bartering is actually fun here, and you might just get serenaded with some reggae while you shop.” Multiple readers recommended visiting the floating market.

More info:

Nearly 80,000 readers took part in Conde Nast Travel’s Readers’ Choice survey — far more than ever before — casting 1.3 million votes. No destination was too remote: Both Tibet and Rwanda debut with hotels. None was too small: Four of your favorite cities have fewer than 10,000 citizens. And no hotel was too new: Seven that opened last year are here, from Montreal to Beijing. As always, you praise quality where it thrives, and find it where it emerges.
