653. Curaçao’s Mulato Collective

Jazz with Caribbean soul and a touch of tambú heart, Mulato Collective was founded by Curaçao jazz guitarist Jean-Jacques Rojer and drummer/producer Ralph Durgaram and features Grammy award winner Pernell Saturnino on percussion and Tony Worrel on vocals (among others). Rojer and Durgaram’s main objective is to fuse indigenous instruments and sounds with musical styles from the Caribbean and Brazil to create music that’ll resonate around the world… World Music.

Their collective headlined the very first Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival in 2010 and recorded much of their newly released album from 2011 to 2013.

Mulato Collective’s first album is currently available on iTunes.

“If I had to think of a guitarist that is creative, versatile, professional and lots of fun to play with, Jean-Jacques Rojer would come to mind immediately.”  – Multi-Grammy Winner Cuban saxophonist and clarinetist, Paquito D’Rivera

Jean-Jacques’ solo album Le Trip is also available on iTunes.
